about erin bolte
how I got started –
My grandma taught me to knit when I was around age ten. I have fond memories of exploring the many isles of the yarn store by her side, and finding the colors and textures that appealed to me most. It’s a special honor to feel her inspiration in my work today.
when I fell into fibers –
After starting college, I quickly switched my major from international studies to art. My first semester I enrolled in a fibers class. Finding comfort and interest in the rich world of color and texture, I immediately knew that the fibers studio was going to become my home for the next four years.
where I do my work –
I create the majority of my work in my Milwaukee apartment, and the studio space at ABK weaving center. You can often find me immersed in weaving or painting while listening to music or a fascinating podcast.
about the rabbit-raven logo
This whimsical creature emerged when I was inspired to sew a set of faux crow’s wings onto a little stuffed rabbit that I found at a thrift store. The resulting creature – one that can nestle in a burrow contently one day, and soar among the clouds the next – felt right as the symbol for the feeling and expression I create through my art.
